Project Overview

Harwyn delivered a purpose-built, two-storey modular classroom building for Trinity Grammar School in Kew, Victoria. The 750m² facility provides six classrooms, four offices and generous breakout spaces, replacing ageing portable classrooms with a permanent, architecturally integrated learning environment.

The Challenge

As part of its long-term master planning, Trinity Grammar School needed to replace ageing portable classrooms that were separated from the main campus.

While functional, these buildings no longer reflected the school’s expectations around quality, student experience or permanence.

At the same time, the school required additional teaching space quickly, without the delays, disruption or complexity of a traditional construction process. Any solution also needed to integrate seamlessly with the surrounding precinct and support Trinity’s broader campus vision.

The Solution

Harwyn delivered a purpose-built, two-storey modular classroom facility, replacing the older two-classroom building with a new six-classroom development.

The majority of construction was completed off-site, allowing the project to be delivered with a short on-site installation period of just 8 weeks.

The design was developed collaboratively and tailored to Trinity’s needs, ensuring strong acoustic performance, clear supervision sightlines and a high-quality finish that complements the existing campus.

The completed building includes six classrooms, four offices and large breakout spaces on each floor.

The Outcome

Staff and students have responded very positively, citing improved comfort, reduced distraction and a learning environment that feels welcoming and robust.

The project was delivered on time, on budget and leaves the school with minimal ongoing maintenance, providing flexible, high-quality learning spaces that support both current needs and future campus planning.
