Project Overview

Harwyn delivered a purpose-built modular junior school learning facility for the new St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School campus in Drouin, Victoria. The 500m² building provided four classrooms, a large central collaborative space and supporting amenities, enabling the school to open its new campus on time.

The Challenge

As part of a long-term growth strategy, St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School committed to establishing a new junior school campus at Drouin.

The campus was located on a greenfield site, presenting significant challenges including limited infrastructure, tight timelines and the need to open at the beginning of the school year.

With enrolments confirmed and families expecting the campus to open on time, the school required a high-quality learning facility that could be delivered with certainty, despite the complexities of the site and concurrent construction works.

The Solution

Harwyn delivered a purpose-built modular learning facility that enabled St Paul’s to meet critical opening deadlines.

The majority of construction was completed off-site, providing certainty around delivery and significantly reducing on-site risk during a highly complex build program.

The building was designed collaboratively with the school and its architects to ensure it integrated seamlessly with other traditionally constructed buildings on the campus.

The completed facility included four classrooms, a large central collaborative space, kitchenette, toilets and covered outdoor learning areas.

The Outcome

The facility was delivered and installed in time for the campus to open as planned.

Staff and students have responded very positively, noting the comfort, acoustic performance and flexibility of the space for a wide range of learning activities and school events.

Design refinements, including an elevated roofline and increased natural light, ensured the facility feels permanent, welcoming and aligned with the school’s long-term vision.
