What materials do you use?

How do Harwyn buildings perform acoustically?

What is the temperature control like?

Our buildings are highly insulated in walls, floors and ceilings and fitted with quality Daikin cassette air conditioning. Double glazed low-E windows ensure comfortable indoor temperatures year round with minimal energy use.

Are Harwyn buildings energy efficient?

Yes. Every Harwyn exceeds typical commercial energy ratings through superior insulation, glazing, and efficient air-conditioning.

Can I choose my own colour?

Yes. A wide range of external and internal colour options are available to match your campus palette. Contact us for current selections.

Will the colour fade?

No. Our exterior Alpolic aluminium composite panels are UV stable and retain their finish for decades with minimal maintenance.

How long does it take to build?

Depending on size and scope, most projects take between 8 and 16 weeks in the factory.

Can Harwyn deliver multi-storey modular buildings?

Yes. We design and deliver both single and double storey modular solutions to help schools maximise limited space.

Do we need a slab or concrete foundations?

No. Harwyn uses a concrete free footing system that’s versatile, quick to install and suitable for most terrains including sloping sites.

Can you install on a sloping site?

Yes. Our footing system adapts to varied site conditions without the need for heavy machinery or extensive earthworks.

How long are you on site for?
  • Single music pod: typically 1 day
  • Two classroom block: around 5 days
  • Four classroom block: about 10 days
  • Large double storey project (6 classrooms + offices): roughly 6 weeks
Will school operations be disrupted during installation?

Minimal disruption. Buildings arrive prefabricated and are craned into place quickly and safely, often in a single day.

Do you take care of the installation process?

Yes. We handle everything from delivery and footings to final fit out. You choose your finishes and we hand over the keys when complete.

Do you take care of the whole project?

Yes, we deliver a turnkey solution including design, manufacturing, delivery, footings, and installation.

We provide full electrical and communications wiring as standard. Optional extras include modular decking and covered walkways.

Schools engage their own contractors for service connections and landscaping; we provide clear drawings for all connection points.

Can a Harwyn building be relocated?

Yes. While designed as permanent structures, Harwyn modular buildings can be relocated if future needs change.

Our school already has an architect. Can you work with them?

Yes. We frequently collaborate with architects and project teams. Our in-house architects speak the same design language and ensure the project integrates seamlessly with your existing plans.

Do I need permits or approvals?

Harwyn handles the required administration for you. Our buildings comply with all national and state codes. We take care of building permits and/or certification. Planning permits handled by client.

What’s the lifespan of a Harwyn building?

Harwyn buildings are engineered for a lifespan of 50 years +. The structural steel frame, birch ply interiors and Alpolic exterior panels provide exceptional durability with virtually no maintenance. Are the buildings pre wired?

Yes. Every Harwyn building is fully pre-wired, not just for today’s needs, but with future growth in mind.

Because we’ve worked with schools across Australia, we understand what modern learning environments require. We bring that knowledge and experience to every project, offering proven best practice layouts for power, data and communication systems as a strong starting point.

From there, we collaborate closely with your IT, facilities and teaching teams to refine the setup for your school’s specific requirements  ensuring the system is both practical and future proof.

Each Harwyn building includes:

  • Main Switchboard with  RCD protection and labelled circuits
  • Low profile LED lighting with classroom appropriate brightness and switching zones
  • Ample double GPOs positioned for both teacher and student use
  • Ceiling mounted cassette air-conditioning units with individual digital control panels
  • Comprehensive communications wiring, including provisions for Wi-Fi bridges, projectors, TVs, interactive teaching screens, PA systems, CO₂ monitors and more
  • Security and access control cabling, compatible with systems such as SALTO and similar
  • Fire detection and safety systems
  • Fully coordinated ICT and control systems, designed in collaboration with the school’s IT team to meet current standards and anticipate future upgrades
What type of maintenance is required?

Very little. Harwyn buildings never need repainting, varnishing or insect treatment. An occasional wash with a high pressure hose keeps the exterior looking brand new.
